On September 8, 2009, Trident Resources Corp. and its United States subsidiaries and affiliates, Aurora Energy LLC, NexGen Energy Canada, Inc., Trident CBM Corp. and Trident USA Corp. (the "Debtors") filed voluntary petitions for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code (the "Chapter 11 cases") in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware (the "Bankruptcy Court").
The Debtors' cases have been assigned to the Honorable Mary F. Walrath and are being jointly administered under case number 09-13150 (MFW).
Simultaneously with the filing of their Chapter 11 cases, the Debtors filed a series of "First Day Motions" with the Bankruptcy Court, which held a First Day Hearing on September 10, 2009. Those First Day Motions and any orders entered thereon are available by clicking on the First Day Motions and Orders tab on the left side of this page. The Meeting of Creditors began on October 15, 2009 and was adjourned to, and completed on November 24, 2009.
Also on September 8, 2009, the Debtors' Canadian affiliates and subsidiaries ("Canadian Companies") were among the debtors who filed an application with the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta Judicial District of Calgary under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (the "CCAA") seeking relief from creditors (the "Canadian Proceeding"). The Canadian Companies include Trident Exploration Corp., Fort Energy Corp., Fenergy Corp., 981405 Alberta Ltd and 981422 Alberta Ltd. FTI Consulting Canada ULC has been appointed Monitor in the Canadian Proceeding.
